600+ participants in Rimini, 400+ online, 39 sessions and three days – these added up to ECCA2025 and an acceleration boost for climate adaptation across Europe.
The vibrant conference and dynamic programme has already brought climate science and policy action closer together. The benefits will reach across Europe and beyond.
ECCA2025 brought together experts from across scientific disciplines including social sciences; European Commission officials; regional, local and national policy decision-makers; NATO; the Carabinieri; climate professionals; industry leaders; NGOs working in climate vulnerable communities around the world; artists; dancers and even an award-winning film director!
Running from July 16th-18th, in Rimini, Italy, the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference it filled the Palacongressi di Rimini with a buzz of knowledge exchanges, insights, new connections forming and a renewed drive to continue building climate adaptation research into successful actions and outcomes. It was organised by the MAGICA Climate Project, JPI Climate and CMCC Foundation.
ECCA2025’s Closing Plenary extended the adaptation conversation globally, looking ahead to its global equivalent, Adaptation Futures, that this year takes place in Christchurch, New Zealand, October 13th-16th, as a hybrid event, and on to COP30 in Brazil, November 10th-21st.
Key messages from the conference will also feed into the JPI Climate and MAGIC Climate project initiative, the Equinox Process.
